The House of Cheese Ltd.

The House of Cheese ceased operations on December 31, 2022, after 43 years of operations.  The operations in the Ottawa Byward Market and Barrhaven locations both closed effective December 31, 2022.  The principal shareholder passed away in early 2022 and with falling sales and increasing costs to operate including purchasing of inventory, the surviving family members elected to close both locations.   The level of debt in both companies was not significant, however the net operating cash flow was not strong enough to support servicing the debt.
