Government Pensions And Assistance In Retirement

The following link will take you to a paper by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives entitled "What Can We Do About Pensions" http://www.policyalternatives.ca/reports/2009/10/article2319/?pa=BB736455 Part of our counselling program for bankrupts (and for those making proposals as now required under the September 18th Amendments) is a discussion of retirement, and the various types of income available from the government. Many bankrupts have no funds put aside for retirement and will largely be depending on the government, so it is extremely important to understand how the system works. While I do not necessarily agree with the alternatives presented by the CCPA in this paper, the paper nevertheless gives an excellent summary of what is, and is not, available for those retiring in Canada.
