During the COVID-19 out break my partner at the time lost over half his income making things financially difficult. My income did not change but the loss from his income had a huge impact on our lives. We had just purchased a new truck with the intention that his truck allowance would pay for most of it. Once he lost half his income, he also lost the truck allowance. The truck and the other small debt we had were all in my name. I had no choice but to consult a financial advisor, so I called MNP. It was advised that I enter into a consumer proposal. I agreed it was the best plan. I gave up my truck and signed the proposal. I took this as you can’t always see or prepare for what life is going to throw at you. I alone made my monthly payments for the proposal and have been able to pay it off 8 months early. I have since kept my debt very very small and made saving a big priority. My situation wasn’t completely my fault but if something like COVID happened again I don’t want to see myself in the same position. Everyone I have spoken to at MNP have been wonderful to deal with and have made this journey clear and easy. I would recommend them to anyone who finds themselves in a position where they need financial help. MNP helped me find the best solution that worked for me. It’s not an easy decision to make but MNP made it easier and walked me through it all.
